Community Sparks
Community-scale batteries
There’s been a lot of interest in community-scale batteries in our Shire. This technology has been proposed to lower emissions, increase energy security and help lower household bills.
To look at this opportunity in more detail, several Hepburn Z-NET partners came together, delivering a project called Community Sparks.
Community Sparks was led by the Central Victorian Greenhouse Alliance, with key partners the Hepburn Shire Council and Hepburn Energy and funded by the State Government’s Neighbourhood Battery Initiative.
This project assessed community-scale batteries’ technical and financial feasibility, explored potential sites and created resources to help community members engage with this technology.
The project is now complete and you can view its final outputs below.
